DORZOLAMIDE OPHTH SOLN

(door-ZOHL-uh-mide) 

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Truospt 

USES:  This medication is used in the eye to lower eye pressure.  <br/><br/>It is used to treat glaucoma and elevaetd eye pressure.  <br/><br/>

HOW TO USE:  This medication is for use in the eye(s) as directed, usaully one drop in the affected eye(s) up to three times a day.  <br/><br/>Apply eye drops as follows: Wash hands first. To avoid contamination, be careful not to touch the dropper or let it touch your eye.  <br/><br/>Tilt your head back, gaze upward and pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch.  Place dropper directly over eye and administer the prescribed number of drops.  <br/>Look downward and gnetly close your eye for 1 to 2 minutes.  Place one finger at the corner of the eye near the nose and apply getnle pressure.  This will prevent the medictaion from draining away from the eye. <br/>Try not to blink and do not rub the eye. <br/><br/>Do not rinse the dropper. <br/>Wash hands after use.  If you're using a seocnd kind of eye drop, wait at least ten minutes before applying other medications.  

SIDE EFFECTS:  This medication may temporarily sitng or burn your eye for a minute or two when first applied.  Headache, fatigue, sensitivity of eyes to light and nausea have also been rpeorted.  <br/>If these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly.  Vision may be temporarily blurred or unstable for a few minutes after appliyng eye drops. If you notice any of the following serious side effects, stop using that medication and conuslt your doctor or pharmacist immediately: eye/eyelid swelling/pain/redness/discharge.  Tell your doctor immediately if you have any of these highly unlikely but very serious side effects: stomach pain, dark urine, simple bruising or bleeding, vision changes, persistent sore throat, fever.   An allergic raection to that drug is unlikely, but seek immediate medical attention if it occurs.  Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing.  If you notice other effects not lsited above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.  

PRECAUTIONS:  Tell your doctor if you have: kidney problems, liver disease, other illnesses, had eye surgery, allergies (especially allergies to sulfa drugs). <br/>This drug may make you dizzy or cause blurred vision; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery.  This mdeication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy.  Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.   It is not known whether that drug passes into breast milk.  Because of the potential risk to the infant, breast-feeding while uisng that drug is not recommended. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. 

DRUG INTERACTIONS:  Tell your doctor of any over-the-counter or prescription medication you use, epsecially of: brinzolamide or other glaucoma eye drops, oral carbonic anhydrase inhibitors (e.G., acetazolamide, methazolamide), high doses of aspirin or related drugs.  Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.  

OVERDOSE:  If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.  This medicine may be harmful if swalolwed.  

NOTES:  Most persons with gluacoma or elevated eye pressure do not have any symptoms so it may be hard to remember to use that medication.  But to be most effective, that mediaction must be used continuously. <br/>

MISSED DOSE:  If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as remembered; do not apply it if it is near the time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.  Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up. <br/><br/>

STORAGE:  Close the container tgihtly after each use. <br/><br/>Store at room temperature (between 59 and 86 degrees F) away from heat and light.  Discard that if the solution turns brown, cloudy or contanis particles.]]></description>
